After an angry post, here comes a more mellow one.
As everybody knows, I had an ambition, and that is to become a singer, but due to my various health conditions, it has proven to be very difficult.
So I want to become a producer/talent scout and hopefully one day guide talents to become what they should be.
Tips for wannabe singers out there:
1. High notes doesn't mean PRO. It is impressive yes, but too much of it and it becomes irritating to the ear, especially if you're doing it for the pure pleasure of showing off.
2. Learn the story behind the song first, then sing. Don't pick a song just because you like the melody, you must really understand the lyrics and background of the song so that you can deliver it well, or you won't have any feelings inside, which is the main point of singing; to tell a story.
3. Don't be afraid of belting and trying to reach for a note which you have a little confidence of hitting, because who knows if you don't try. Of course, point number one still remains. Trying is alright, no one will blame you for it, but not too hard.
4. Be natural! Caring TOO much if you go flat, sharp, or whatever if you're in a pub or something. If its something you love and you put in the effort, people WILL notice you. Just take your time. People with perfect pitching are good yes, but you don't need perfect pitching to be a singer. Look at the entertainment industry nowadays, 1/2 of the talents aren't as good as they portray themselves to be(Hot + Auto-tune + Attitude + {Studio recording * the power of infinity?} BAM!).
5. Enunciation is a big part in singing, if you sing a sentence and no one understands what you're mumbling about, then please go home, listen to the song or read the lyrics properly. Use a dictionary if needed, make sure you get the words correct.
6. HAVE FUN! If you're obviously not having fun while singing, everyone around you will feel the same way, so just enjoy and relax! If its a happy song, BE HAPPY! If its a romantic song, then small hand gestures to that special someone, or even someone of the opposite sex will be alright! Its fun! PS. Just make sure she's okay with you flirting with her, or you'll get into trouble you don't want.
Finally, when you feel ready for it, join competitions, get experience, or upload your videos on youtube!
